See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
The Crabmill can trace its roots back more than three centuries, and it still bears the marks of history with its tiny leaded windows, weathered half-timbered exterior, crooked beams and flagstone floors. The pub started life as a cider mill. A small back bar has sofas. Recently bought and refurbished by Brunning and Price, the emphasis is now on good quality real ales and traditional pub food. Regularly changing ales and sometimes a real cider. The bar area has been returned to a true drinking area and the owners have retained the spectacular real fire. In February 2022 a serious fire originating in the kitchen largely destroyed the restaurant area, and there was damage to the pub; it has remained closed since. The owners, Brunning & Price, have now said they will not be rebuilding due to the cost.
